ATIC

Acronym for Air Technical Intelligence Center. ATIC was created by the USAF and located in Dayton Ohio at the Wright-Patterson AFB. It operated during the 1950s performing analysis and evaluation of foreign aircraft and guided missile technology. Some of the aircraft they analyzed were recovered from crash retrieval operations. It also oversaw the USAF investigation into UFOs known as Project Blue Book. The most famous UFO crash retrieval operation involving the ATIC is known as the Roswell Incident. On July 1, 1961 ATIC was replaced by the Foreign Technology Division ( FTD ).
