RAF

Acronym for Royal Air Force. The RAF originated in 1912 as the Royal Flying Corps. On April first 1918 the RFC joined with the Royal Naval Air Service and became the RAF. On May 13, 1918 the independent force, RAF was formed. This was the first time an air force had been created anywhere in the world with the intention of conducting air warfare independent of Army or Navy command.

On Wednesday 14 May 2008, the first in a series of Ministry of Defence UFO files were released to The UK National Archives. Dating back to the 1970s, many reports involve the RAF. However access to the files is not free. At the time this was written, access to a sigle file cost £3.50 or around $5.72 USD.
